Humble Beginnings and Remarkable Growth
The Rotary Club of Chennai Gems started with forty members in 2018 and was chartered on 27th July 2018, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Madras Industrial City. Under the leadership of Charter President Rtn. A.N. 2019 - My favorite club project was the renovation of the Government Boys High School in Mogappair East. The school was in a state of disrepair, so I visited the school daily for over 60 days and helped to renovate the building. Our club also cleaned and leveled the 3-acre ground area, and we increased the compound wall by more than 6 feet to prevent outsiders from entering the school. As a result of our efforts, the number of students studying in the school increased from 80 to 400.
